WHAT IS TESTOSTERONE?

Testosterone is a hormone that works to promote the normal development and growth of the male reproductive and sex organs. Testosterone also encourages the development of secondary male characteristics like fat distribution over the body, bone mass, musculature, hair patterns, vocal cord thickening, and laryngeal enlargement. It can also influence sex drive, energy level, and cognition. Testosterone affects:

  • Growth and maturation of prostate, and other male sex organs
  • Development of male hair distribution such as facial hair
  • Changes in body muscle mass and strength and fat distribution
  • Sex drive and sexual function
  • Mood and energy level
  • Bone strength
