Foods Preventing Your Weight Loss Goals

If you are attempting to lose weight, then you need to make sure that you are creating a healthy balance in your life between a proper diet and plenty of exercise. However, weight loss can be more complex than that. Our bodies are complicated systems, and sometimes just eating less and working out more isn’t enough to make the significant weight loss changes you are looking for.

What many people don’t realize is that nutrition is more complicated than that and in order to make sure you are losing weight, you need to give your body the right foods for healthy weight loss. Certain foods that can impact your efforts and prevent you from losing weight. The more you know about these goods, the more you can do to make sure they don’t prevent you from reaching your goals.

Foods With MSG

MSG is a flavor enhancer that is commonly found in fast food, Chinese takeout and canned and packaged foods. This chemical is not only extremely common in processed foods, but it is very addictive and is linked to weight gain. MSG is difficult to avoid and is linked to high cholesterol, metabolic diseases, digestive disorders and it increases obesity risk. Simply put, fast food can really take a toll on your weight loss even if you are exercising regularly.

Artificial Sweeteners

Many people think that they are being healthy with their weight loss efforts by using a zero-calorie sweetener instead of sugar. However, while sugars should be limited, these sweeteners are filled with saccharin, sucralose or aspartame. This increases the chances of developing glucose intolerance, which is a metabolic condition that is associated with obesity. Limit your intake of these sweeteners and consider natural sweeteners instead.

Soda

Reaching for a soda, or even a diet soda, can cause metabolic conditions and make it difficult to lose weight. Sodas can damage the metabolism and cause you to store excess body fat around the midsection. It is amazing what cutting out sodas can do when you are on a weight loss journey, it may be that extra boost you need to get over your plateau.

Low-Fat Foods

It is easy to want to reach for low-fat foods when you are trying to lose weight. However, according to studies, people are much more likely to consume extra calories when they are eating low-fat foods. Other studies suggest that eating low-fat foods will cause you to feel hungry again sooner after consumption. In short, instead of eating these “low fat” often processed versions of common foods, try consuming natural foods that are filled with good fats such as salmon, nuts or avocados.
